Skin Conditions Most skin conditions are chronic, and often respond poorly to conventional medicine. Conventional creams and medication normally suppress rather than cure the problem, which flares up again once treatment is stopped, sometimes worse than it was to start with. By addressing the root cause rather than just the manifestation Chinese Medicine can treat most skin diseases, such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, urticaria, vitiligo etc. Diet is normally very important where the problem is chronic and quite minor adjustments to the daily diet can sometimes give great results. I also use natural herbal skin creams which consist of natural chinese herbs in a pure aqueous base which are very effective at tackling the problem from the outside while acupuncture or tui na work from the inside. Skin problems almost always reflect an internal imbalance of some description, and may be aggravated or caused by stress, bad diet, emotional upset or poor functioning of one or more internal organs. The Chinese diagnosis is able to identify what the cause of the problem is and work to aleviate it. Treatments are normally weekly, with the duration depending on the nature of the problem and also the individual. Some conditions, such as acne, respond quite quickly while others, such as psoriasis, may take longer. Contact me for more information.
